Kitchen renovations

New cabinets and counters, or a full gut and a new layout. One team runs the whole kitchen.

A kitchen is the most coordinated room in the house. Cabinets, counters, plumbing, electrical, flooring, lighting and appliances all have to arrive in the right order and fit to within a fraction of an inch, and one late piece holds up everything behind it.

We run the kitchen as one project. One team plans the layout with you, orders in the right sequence and builds it start to finish, with one project lead keeping the dates.

Refresh or rebuild

Some kitchens need new cabinet fronts, counters and a backsplash. Some need everything out to the studs and a layout that finally works. The site visit is where we figure out which one yours is, and whether the plumbing, gas and electrical can stay where they are or need to move.

Plan it before anything comes out

The layout, the cabinet order and the appliance sizes are settled before demolition starts, because cabinets and counters take time to make and the kitchen should not sit gutted while they are on order. You get the schedule up front, including how long you will be without a working kitchen.

Moving a sink, a range or a wall changes the plumbing, gas and electrical behind it. Those go to licensed trades and get inspected before the walls close, and where the work needs a permit we build it into the plan.

One price for the whole kitchen

After the site visit you get one firm written price plus HST covering the whole kitchen, broken into stages. If you change a finish along the way, the change is priced before it is ordered.

What changes the price

We do not publish rates, and here is why.

A number off a website is a guess, and guesses turn into surprises on the invoice. Every job is priced to what is actually in front of us. These are the things that move it:

  • ·Whether the layout stays or changes.
  • ·Moving plumbing, gas or electrical, or walls.
  • ·Cabinets: refacing, stock or custom.
  • ·Counters, backsplash and flooring.
  • ·Lighting and new circuits for appliances.
  • ·How long the house can be without a kitchen.

The site visit is free. The quote comes back itemized, with the HST and the total including HST shown, inside 48 hours. What you sign is what you pay.

Common questions
How long will we be without a kitchen?+

It depends on how much changes. We plan the order so the kitchen is out of service for as short a time as possible, and you get that timeline in writing before we start.

Can we move the sink or open up a wall?+

Often, yes. We look at what runs through the wall and under the floor at the site visit, and tell you what moving it involves before you decide.

Do we buy the cabinets or do you?+

We sort that out with you at the site visit, and the price you get says exactly what is supplied and by whom.
