Backyards, designed and built start to finish

The whole backyard, one team. We design it with you, give you a firm price, and build it start to finish.

Most backyards get built in pieces. One company pours the patio, another builds the deck, someone else does the lighting, and you spend the summer coordinating people who have never met each other. Every handoff is a chance for a date to slip or a detail to fall through the cracks.

We do it the other way. One team designs the whole yard with you, prices it as one project, and builds it start to finish with one project lead running the schedule. You deal with one company and one person the whole way through.

What a backyard project can include

Patios in stamped, broom or exposed aggregate finish. Pool surrounds and pool decks. Decks, pergolas and seat walls. Retaining walls where the yard needs to step. Lighting, outdoor outlets and gas lines for a heater or a barbecue, with licensed electricians and gas fitters on our team. Grading, drainage, sod and garden beds to finish it properly.

You do not need all of it. Some people want a patio and a walk done right. Some want the whole yard rebuilt. The site visit is where we figure out which one you are, and what order makes sense if the budget wants it done in phases.

Three priced options, not one number

After the visit we design the yard and come back with three versions: a good, a better and a best. Each one is a firm price plus HST with the scope written down, so you can see exactly what changes between them and what it costs.

Most people end up somewhere in the middle, and plenty mix and match. The point is that you choose with the real numbers in front of you instead of guessing what a change will do to the price.

Built in the right order

A backyard has a sequence, and getting it wrong is expensive. Drainage and grading come first, because water decides where everything else can go. Anything that runs underground, like gas lines, conduit for lighting and drains, goes in before the hard surfaces. Then the patio and walls, then the structures, then the planting and sod.

One team running all of it is what keeps that sequence clean. Nobody pours over a spot where a line still needs to run, and nobody shows up to a site that is not ready for them.

Planning now for spring

Spring is when everyone calls, which is why the yards that get built first are the ones planned over the winter. We walk sites and design all winter long, so your plan and your price are ready before the ground thaws and your start date is set in writing.

What changes the price

We do not publish rates, and here is why.

A number off a website is a guess, and guesses turn into surprises on the invoice. Every job is priced to what is actually in front of us. These are the things that move it:

  • ·How much of the yard is in the project, and whether it is built all at once or in phases.
  • ·The finishes you choose for the patio and walls.
  • ·Structures like decks and pergolas, and their size.
  • ·Lighting, outlets and gas lines, and how far they have to run.
  • ·Grading and drainage, especially on yards that slope toward the house.
  • ·Access to the backyard, and whether a machine can get in or everything is barrowed.

The site visit is free. The quote comes back itemized, with the HST and the total including HST shown, inside 48 hours. What you sign is what you pay.

Common questions
Do you do the whole yard or just the concrete?+

The whole yard. Patios, walls, decks, pergolas, lighting, gas lines, grading, drainage and landscaping, designed and priced as one project and built by one team.

Can we do it in phases?+

Yes. We design the whole yard so every phase fits the finished plan, then build the first phase now and the rest when you are ready. Nothing gets torn up later because the first phase was not planned around the second.

When should we start planning for next summer?+

Now. Design and pricing happen over the winter, and the first spring start dates go to the projects that are planned and signed first.

Who do we deal with during the build?+

One project lead, from the first visit to the final walkthrough. You get the schedule before we start and photo updates as the work goes in.
