Bathroom renovations

A bathroom is a small room that has to keep water where it belongs. We build it from the studs out.

Bathrooms fail behind the tile. A shower that looks perfect on day one can be soaking the wall behind it a year later if what is under the tile was not built properly, and by the time you see it the repair is the whole room again.

We build bathrooms the way we build concrete: the parts you never see again get the most attention. One team takes the room down, fixes what is behind it, and builds it back with one project lead running the job.

Refresh or full rebuild

Some bathrooms need a new vanity, toilet and fixtures. Some need everything out to the studs: the tub, the tile, the subfloor and whatever the old shower has been doing to the wall. We tell you which one at the site visit, honestly.

What goes behind the tile

In a shower, the tile is the finish, not the waterproofing. The waterproof layer behind it is what keeps the water out of the wall, so that is where we spend the time. The plumbing is roughed in by licensed trades and the work is inspected before it is covered, and where the job needs a permit we build it into the plan.

Planned so you can still use the house

If it is your only bathroom, we plan the order of work so you are without it for as little time as possible, and you get that timeline in writing before we start.

What changes the price

We do not publish rates, and here is why.

A number off a website is a guess, and guesses turn into surprises on the invoice. Every job is priced to what is actually in front of us. These are the things that move it:

  • ·A refresh, or a rebuild down to the studs.
  • ·Tub, walk in shower, or converting one to the other.
  • ·Moving the toilet, vanity or shower drain.
  • ·Tile, fixtures and the vanity you choose.
  • ·What we find behind the old tile and under the floor.
  • ·Whether it is the only bathroom in the house.

The site visit is free. The quote comes back itemized, with the HST and the total including HST shown, inside 48 hours. What you sign is what you pay.

Common questions
Can you turn a tub into a walk in shower?+

Usually, yes. It changes the drain and the waterproofing, which is exactly the part we spend the most time on.

How long does a bathroom take?+

It depends on how much changes and what we find behind the old finishes. You get a schedule before we start, planned around how many bathrooms the house has.

Do you do basement bathrooms too?+

Yes. In a basement the drains go into the concrete floor first, which is work our own crew does before the room is built.
